Strategies 360 is pleased to welcome Khara Jabola to our Hawai’i Office as public affairs director. The leading public affairs, communications and research firm in the West, S360 launched its Hawai’i operations in August 2016 led by veteran strategist John White.
“Khara brings nearly a decade of grassroots advocacy, community organizing and lobbying experience to our Hawai’i Office,” said John White, senior vice president for Hawai’i. “We are excited she will be joining us, and I know our clients can look forward to Khara’s strategic insights, counsel and leadership.”
Before joining S360, Khara worked as a lead community organizer for Faith Action for Community Equity (FACE), the only interfaith grassroots non-profit in Hawai’i which works across the areas of affordable housing, education, health and immigrant rights. She led the state’s only policy advocacy campaign exclusively dedicated to improving the daily lives of immigrants. In this role, Khara also led the effort to pass a landmark Hawai’i law, which created a driver’s license for all Hawai’i residents – regardless of immigration status. Previously, she worked as an associate at the labor law firm of King, Nakamura, & Chun-Hoon.
Currently, Khara serves as a board member on the Drug Policy Forum of Hawai’i and a member of the Hawai’i Women’s Coalition. She also oversees the Justice for Women Fellowship at the Hawai’i State Legislature.
Khara received a law degree from the University of Hawai’i, where she specialized in Native Hawaiian law, and holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from New York University. She also studied at the University of the Philippines and Franklin College of Switzerland. She speaks Portuguese and Tagalog. Khara is a recent mother to a son, Laguna Kekipi Jabola-Ing, with her partner, Hawaii State Representative Kaniela Ing.
