The former lawmaker and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure will serve as Senior Advisor with Strategies 360’s British Columbia practice.

Vancouver, B.C. — Claire Trevena has joined Strategies 360 in British Columbia after nearly two decades in public service as an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure for the province. Trevena brings a wealth of political and communications experience to her new role as Senior Advisor.

“Claire’s body of work on behalf of the people of British Columbia is extraordinary,” said Michael Gardiner. “She has the ability to work across political interests and with innovative ideas to effectively move projects in our province forward.”

Trevena’s successes as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure include introducing ride hail to British Columbia; developing and implementing the province’s first active transportation strategy; and developing a framework for project for labour agreements.

As an MLA in the New Democratic Party (NDP), Trevena represented the large rural constituency of North Island. Her legislative career included a broad range of Shadow cabinet posts during NDP’s opposition party status.

In these roles, she addressed issues from women’s rights through childcare to social development and, of course, transportation and infrastructure. She spent time working on Legislative committees for Children and Families, Finance, and Sustainable Aquaculture. Trevena also served a term as a Deputy Speaker of the BC Legislature.

“Our clients can trust Claire’s ability to see the big picture and blend social and community focused needs with policy and business to create win-win-win outcomes,” said Ron Dotzauer, Founder and CEO of Strategies 360. “We are thrilled to have her on board to share her expertise, ideas and passion for creating positive change.”

Prior to entering electoral politics, Trevena worked as a lead on strategic communications projects both domestically and internationally. She was a spokesperson with the UN, was the Chief Communications Officer in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in Kosovo as well as in Canadian and US sponsored missions abroad. She has also worked on voter access for Iraq, corporate governance in Macedonia and projects from Guatemala to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her roots are in journalism where she was a reporter, producer and editor for the BBC, The Guardian (UK), and the CBC among other organizations.

LOS ANGELES – Strategies 360 (S360) is thrilled to announce Victoria Lim is joining the firm’s growing practice in Los Angeles as Vice President of Communications. The move comes as S360 continues to build out its footprint in California, assembling an unmatched team and service capabilities throughout the state.

Victoria comes to S360 as the former Assistant Vice Chancellor of Communications for Brandman University in Irvine, California, bringing a wealth of unique and pioneering experience to build out the firm’s communications practice in Los Angeles.

Lim has led corporate communications at the highest levels, serving five years as Managing Editor of Public Relations and Editorial Content for Walt Disney World Public Relations. She is also an Emmy and AP honored journalist who set herself apart from the industry norm almost two decades ago as one of the first journalists to utilize the practice of multi-media story storytelling. Lim worked around the country for nearly two decades as a television reporter, serving as the senior investigative reporter for WFLA-TV (NBC) in Tampa, a reporter and anchor for Bright House Sports Network in Central Florida, and a business columnist for the Tampa Tribune.

“It’s rare you find talent like Victoria Lim: She is a proven communications strategist and storyteller who knows exactly what it takes to cut through the noise and have a message resonate with its audience,” said S360 CEO, Ron Dotzauer. “Strategies 360’s practice in California has simply exploded in 2018 and will only be strengthened by the communications expertise of Victoria Lim.”

Victoria is joining Strategies 360 after the firm announced a major expansion of its team in Los Angeles earlier this year. After more than 7-months of exciting and steady growth, Lim will be leading California communications efforts in the Los Angeles office, which includes Senior Vice President Larry Chung and Senior Director Nella McOsker.

S360 RELEASES EXCLUSIVE POLL ON SEATTLE HEAD TAX WITH KIRO 7 NEWS

POLL COMES BEFORE COUNCIL VOTE, SHOWS “STUNNING NUMBERS” THROUGHOUT SEATTLE

With the City of Seattle embroiled in a debate over the City Council’s proposed employee head tax plan, Strategies 360 teamed up with KIRO 7 News to find out how Seattle voters are responding.

The exclusive poll came as the first piece of publicly released opinion research into the issue that has dominated the city’s news cycle and produced what S360 Co-founder and CEO, Ron Dotzauer called some “stunning numbers.”

The survey found the proposal to charge Seattle businesses that earn more than $20 million a year with an employee head tax entirely underwater, with 54% of Seattle voters opposed to the plan, compared to 38% in support:

“This is a vote that Seattle doesn’t want,” Dotzauer told KIRO 7 News when analyzing the poll results. “The biggest surprise of this poll is the intensity of the opposition – usually you get a little more balance. Clearly, there are some very strong feelings about the head tax in Seattle.”

When asked at what dollar amount voters might support a head tax, the poll showed strong opposition across the board:

Compounding the clear public sentiment opposing a head tax in any form was a strong distrust of Seattle government to manage the money raised by a potential head tax wisely:

The live telephone poll of 400 registered voters in Seattle was released by KIRO 7 on Monday morning, ahead of the Seattle City Council’s full vote on the proposed $500-per-worker head tax on some Seattle businesses.

View the full survey results here, and read the full coverage and analysis by KIRO 7 here.

Statement on Methodology:

In partnership with KIRO 7 News, Strategies 360 conducted a survey among 400 registered voters in the city of Seattle. The survey was conducted by live professional interviewers between May 11th and 13th, 2018. A combination of landline and mobile phones were called to ensure greater coverage of the population sampled.

The margin of error for a survey of 400 interviews is ±4.9% at the 95% confidence interval. The margin of error is higher for subsamples. Other sources of error not accounted for by the stated statistical margin of error include, but are not limited to, question wording, question order, coverage bias, and response bias.

The sample for this survey was drawn randomly from a list of registered voters and stratified by Seattle City Council District. Quotas were assigned to reflect the actual contribution of these areas to the total electorate. The sample reflects the demographic composition of the Seattle electorate per data from the U.S. Census Bureau, King County Elections, and several distinct voter files.
